A READER pointed out that there is a Sapphire Crossfire based motherboard listed at Overclockers website. We wrote about this motherboard back at E3 but so fast none of the ATI partners went public with its Crossfire motherboards. Back at Siggraph, ATI officially confirmed that Crossfire is due to arrive in September.

It the United Kingdom, Sapphire Pure CrossFire Radeon Xpress 200P, MB-002-SP will be priced at £84.95 without VAT or £99.82 if you include 17.5% percent of the tax that people have to pay in this nice kingdom.

Sapphire's board is socket 939 based and is using RD480 north bridge and SB450 south bridge and will offer two PCIe graphic slots, two PCIe 1X slots, three PCI slots, eight USB 2.0 ports, SATA Raid 0 and 1, ATA 133 support.

The board will also offer Onboard 8 Channel audio, Gigabit LAN, 10/100 LAN and Firewire.

According to the plans, it is due to arrive in late August 2005, to meet the schedules, I guess. We checked out other manufacturers and we found out that none of the tier one fellas has listed the details about their motherboards. We know that Asus, MSI and Gigabyte are working on Crossfire boards and we already talked about DFI Crossfire motherboard, that is also due to arrive in September.

ATI may well miss the "back to the Everywhere Girl" buying period but let's hope that it will make stable and reliable products available in decent quantities.
